G4+ Thunder ECU update

#1 Post by lostsoul » Sun Sep 24, 2017 8:29 pm

After a little mishap resulting in the engine out and stripped down - some progress is happening.

1: The rotating assembly is being balanced.

2: I am in the process of assembling the Heads and re-adjusting the CAM - Lifter clearances.
"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and
oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,
torque is how far you take the wall with you." ;-)

Heads are assembled and solid lifter tappet clearances adjusted.

Currently assembling the block...

Have modified the Block and Oil pump to delete the Oil Filter Tree, gives more room for the Turbos.

Noooo, don't do that. I'm still keen to see what you lot get up to.

Mine has been collecting dust for far too long. I have to make time and get the Z out this summer for some track time or just cruiZing.
When in doubt................C4!

I have been collecting again, Stillen sway bars, 4.1 gears, AP Racing calipers and disks and a few other bits and pieces.

Currently looking at flywheels and clutches, I love my twin plate Z1 I have at the moment but it is very touchy.

Most importantly the last couple of dynos we have only hit 498 kW at the wheels. I want to dial the cams in and see if we can get her over 500 and then maybe replace the turbos and do something about the Greddy cat back exhaust.

I have one to ... not as touchy as the HKS Triple Plate I had !!!!

Funny how the Power is almost always the most important ;-) ... looking to go over the 500kw mark myself.

Heads on and Cams are in ... double checked the Tappet Clearances, found they were a little tight, another half day sorting them out.

A bit more work done ... tidied up the Crank Sensor installation with a new bracket. Worked out pretty well, got an air gap of 1mm which is recommended for the sensor being used.

Thx ... yeah, decided the risk of getting a leak ( or worse ) was too high and the idea of having pull the engine AGAIN to fix was tooooo much.
