300zx over heating

#1 Post by beta » Thu Jun 14, 2018 2:52 pm

hey guys, been a while since I have been on here, anyone still around? Anyways, I had a cooling issue when the temp got up to 80 degrees as per normal, not too fast. But it didn't stop and increased rapidly up to 110, naturally thought thermostat. What it turned out to be is, the drain plug wasn't sealed and it was sucking in air and cavitating on the water pump resulting in no circulation.

Knowing this would have saved me $359 for a tow truck at 9pm in the rain. So, if you come across this scenario, this may be the reason.
