As for symptoms, changing gears can be a bit 'clunky' and jerky, not smooth like it used to be. The transmission is out already and you can definitely see the wear on the mainshaft spline/clutch plate connection, with plenty of play. As far as I know, the gears themselves seem OK and are not symptom...

Grearbox - rebuild or replace?
Hi all, so the mainshaft spline on my transmission is 'shafted' - worn with too much play, so I was wondering if it's advisable to replace the shaft (which requires opening of the transmission) or better to replace the whole box? Any ideas of the costs involved in rebuilding a gearbox? If it's bette...

Brake shims
Hi all, Don't you hate it when your car has some work done, and you realize they've put everything back together minus some of the parts. I've just replaced the front rotors and pads in an effort to get rid of my brake shudder issue and realized that the shims are missing! The muppets (Mida$$) who w...

Shudder/vibration when braking
Hi all, thought I would pick your collective brains to help me diagnose an problem with my Z. When braking, my car shudders like crazy, and while this isn't unsafe, it is very annoying! It first reared its ugly head after having the front right wheel bearing replaced. I noticed a squeak that was dep...

Transmisson oil
I just replaced the manual transmission oil in my Z and have encountered some problems. Was replaced with Castrol 5 speed manual transmission oil and now I have problems getting into the lower gears when cold. This didn't happen with the old oil (have no idea what brand/type it was). Does this mean ...

Before I got my Z, I had an EXA, which also used to leak thru the T-tops. This was caused by shrinking of the rubbers where the T-top, pillar and window intersect. I just cut out some rubber from an old inner tube in the right shape and glued onto the t-top, filling the gap. Use black silicone seale...

Extractors and exhaust??
Hi there, I've had my Z for about 8 months now and its great, but one thing bothers me - the exhaust. The previous owner has merged the twin exhausts into one monster pipe after the cats. Although it sounds cool (and is kinda unique), I can't hear my stereo and long trips are a pain. I'm planning on...
